Since the announcement of SIMS Power BI Reporting earlier this year, the SIMS Team at Hackney Learning Trust have been busy showcasing the new tool to schools and settings throughout the borough and beyond.
Those who have been lucky enough to see the product in action know that this integration between Microsoft’s Power BI (Business Intelligence) tool and SIMS is set to be a game changer when it comes to the way that schools view data.
For the uninitiated, Power BI is traditionally a powerful analysis tool used to create graphs and visualisations that can be used to better understand data. When this capability is combined with the huge amount of vital information in a school’s SIMS system, reports and dashboards can be created which will provide senior leaders with a way to understand data that just wasn’t possible before.
Feedback from schools who’ve already seen the new dashboards has been extremely positive, with one deputy headteacher saying “Why didn’t you show us the dashboards last week? It would have saved me hours of work!”
The dashboards present tables, graphs and information in an easy to view and flexible way, making the data far more adaptable and easier to understand than in traditional reporting methods. New insights can be made into areas such as behaviour management, attendance and SEND, with the information presented in this new format to allow deeper understanding and more informed evaluations.
Cristina De Pointis, MIS Support Manager, and the rest of the team are preparing to launch the new ‘SIMS Consolidated Reporting’ tool shortly – a great addition to the already robust selection of SIMS support that the CAPITA accredited team at HLT have to offer. The team currently work with over 60 schools providing comprehensive and wide ranging support across all aspects of the SIMS application.
