Dogs don’t enjoy being left at home alone. This is why they go absolutely bonkers whenever you return from work or other outdoor activities. They cannot believe that you have returned home and are overjoyed to play with you and receive your attention once more.

Cats, on the other hand, are not bothered by this.

Cats and dogs have extremely dissimilar personalities, which may explain why they dislike each other so much. In most modern houses with well-trained dogs, however, these two may coexist without fighting.

In the home where Joule the dog and Kelvin the cat reside, everything seemed to have fallen into place flawlessly. They do not fight or bicker, and Kelvin’s laid-back demeanor eased Joule’s uneasiness.

When Joule was adopted, she was a very anxious rescue dog. Her former owner abandoned her and it was a possibility that she developed trust issues and a fear of abandonment because of this.

Brenna Eckert, Joule’s owner, claimed that after Joule was adopted, she never left her side; hence, she has been given the nickname “Velcro dog.” Yes, Joule definitely sticks to Brenna like Velcro would!

Eckert decided to leave a security camera running at her home while she is at work in order to record the activities happening there. It was through this that she discovered Kelvin’s actions toward Joule. Joule was often concerned whenever Eckert left the house, because she is a dog and because she feared being abandoned all over again.

The recorded videos indicated that Kelvin would offer her comfort. He assures her that everything would be okay and that Kelvin is her friend who will not abandon her. Eckert is fortunate to have a cat and dog at home who not only do not quarrel, but also assist one another during difficult times.

As a little girl living in the country side without many neighbors, my dog Sostee became my best friend. We shared an immense bond and I fell in love with these loving, beautiful and wonderful creatures. I knew from a tender age that I wanted to work with animals. I worked at the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana for a few years, and have experience with a variety of dogs and cats. When I’m not working as semi-retired Assistant Administrator in a Home Health Care Agency in Merrillville Indiana, I am a grandma frolicking with my active grandchildren and my sweet dog, Kresi.
