When Debbie Vazquez, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, listened to a voicemail, she expected it to be a message from one of her friends wishing her a happy birthday. However, to her surprise, the message told her that her missing dog had been found. Rocky, her Chihuahua mix, was with the Humane Society in Broward County, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and that was a thousand miles away.
Debbie drove to Florida with her daughter Danae after learning about where Rocky was, and they did not really mind taking that long trip. All that actually mattered to them was that they could finally be with their precious pet once again.
They attempted to find King when he went missing but they didn’t find him anywhere. They searched for the dog for months and even went to local shelters and veterinary facilities in the hopes that the dog was there, but they were unable to locate him. They also posted flyers to let more people know about King.
After searching for a long time for their missing dog, they sadly concluded that King was lost forever and would never come back.
One October day, however, a miracle happened. A woman visited the Humane Society of Broward County and surrendered a dog. She told the shelter staff that the dog was really ill and she did not have the capacity to care for him.
As per their procedure, the Humane Society employees scanned King for a microchip and were startled to discover one. They tracked the owner through the identifying number and discovered that the dog had been reported missing six years prior. They called Debbie, and she was really excited to finally have King back.
The Humane Society even booked a hotel room for the night for the family since it was going to be a long drive back and forth. However, Hurricane Zeta was in the area and lasted for hours, and this cut short the celebration of King’s reunion with his family. Despite the delay, everything went smoothly after, and King was able to return home.
