Losing a loved one is never easy, and this is what this dog felt when he lost his best friend. Eston Dufur, a pet owner, was not the only one who was grieving when Stitch died. He had two amazing dogs, but the other one died after 13 years of living with them.

Aside from his family, there was another dog named Cookie, who felt so lonely about the loss of Stitch. The two dogs were living together with them, and they had been great siblings. Stitch was older than Cookie, but they still had a good relationship while staying in their owner’s house. He was a mentor for her, and she was his energy booster.

The owner said that they loved each other, and there was no time that they didn’t get along well. Cookie was the one who always insisted on playing with Stitch. He couldn’t resist her, too until they had created a friendship that was rare and special. The dogs were excellent in making friends, and they proved that.

They cared for each other, and they even ate on the same bowl. Dufur didn’t worry that they would fight for food because they always managed to eat together peacefully. They were also trained not to eat all of the food in the bowl when they didn’t eat together.

When Stitch was gone, Cookie was so devastated, but he didn’t leave her alone. They had created a bond, and that was a special gift that he gave her before he died. That friendship was always intact and kept no matter what happened. She still had the best love that anyone could ever have!

When Cookie was left with Dufur alone, he started to train her to eat by herself. When he checked her bowl, he noticed that Cookie still left half of her food for Stitch. Since then, he was always comforting her to make her feel that she was not alone in the grief. Fortunately, the situation made the family loved her more and gave her all the attention that she needed to recover from her friend’s loss.

As a little girl living in the country side without many neighbors, my dog Sostee became my best friend. We shared an immense bond and I fell in love with these loving, beautiful and wonderful creatures. I knew from a tender age that I wanted to work with animals. I worked at the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana for a few years, and have experience with a variety of dogs and cats. When I’m not working as semi-retired Assistant Administrator in a Home Health Care Agency in Merrillville Indiana, I am a grandma frolicking with my active grandchildren and my sweet dog, Kresi.
